- Uses LibreSpeed engine with a test server near Nepal (India) for accurate results
- Auto-detects your ISP (operator), connection technology, and district from your IP
- Collects anonymous, crowdsourced speed data to build a public coverage map of Nepal
- Works on mobile (2G/3G/4G/5G) and broadband connections
- No login required. No personal data stored. GPS rounded to ~100 m before storage.

Fixed broadband: Worldlink Communications, Vianet Communications, Subisu Cablenet, DishHome Fiber, Websurfer Nepal, Classic Tech, CG Net, Nepal Telecom (ADSL/Fiber)

Mobile/cellular: Nepal Telecom (NTC) – 2G/3G/4G/5G, Ncell – 3G/4G/5G, Smart Telecom – 4G/5G

## How to interpret speed test results in Nepal

- **Good download speed:** 25+ Mbps for HD streaming; 50+ Mbps for 4K or multiple users
- **Good upload speed:** 5+ Mbps for video calls; 10+ Mbps for remote work
- **Good ping:** Under 50 ms for general use; under 20 ms for gaming
- **Good jitter:** Under 10 ms; high jitter causes lag in video calls
- **NTC/Ncell 4G average:** 10–30 Mbps download depending on location and time
- **Fiber average (Worldlink/Vianet/Subisu):** 50–200 Mbps download

## Why speeds differ from ISP advertised speeds

ISPs advertise peak speeds under ideal conditions. Real-world speed depends on: network congestion at peak hours (7–10 PM), Wi-Fi signal strength, distance from cell tower, number of connected devices, and the ISP's international bandwidth.

## Data and privacy

All submitted test results are stored anonymously in a public dataset (Supabase/PostgreSQL with PostGIS). Full IP addresses are never stored. Coordinates are rounded to approximately 100 m. Results are used to build a public coverage map of internet quality across Nepal's 77 districts and 753 local units.
